CER Press Release regarding the prosecution of a company

The CER has today, 23rd March 2015, published a Press Release regarding the prosecution of a company, Boiler Gas Services, and a Dublin based Plumber for illegally portraying themselves as Registered Gas Installers.

Gas Safety Prosecution Portlaoise District Court

The CER has today, 20th February 2015, published a Press Release regarding the prosecution in Portlaoise District Court of an individual who carried out Gas Works while not being registered as a Registered Gas Installer.

Successful CER Prosecution for Illegal Portrayal as a Registered Gas Installer

On 12th February 2015 the Commission for Energy Regulation (CER) successfully prosecuted Mr. Pat Byrne from County Wexford for illegally portraying himself as a Registered Gas Installers.

Extension of the Registered Gas Installer Scheme to include Non-Domestic Gas Works

CER have published a consultation paper which outlines how the GSSB should operate on a day-to-day basis. Closing date for responses is 19 September 2014

CER prosecutes individual for portraying themselves as a Registered Gas Installer

On 1st September 2014 the Commission for Energy Regulation (CER) prosecuted an individual from County Dublin for illegally portraying themselves as a Registered Gas Installer, specifically using the Registered Gas Installers (RGI) logo on their company website. This case was heard at the Dublin District Court.

RGI Only Sale Policy

The Commission for Energy Regulation (CER) and the Register of Gas Installers of Ireland (RGII) welcome the initiative taken by a number of suppliers to introduce a voluntary policy to only sell gas boilers and spare parts to Registered Gas Installers (RGIs). It is illegal for anyone to carry out gas works in respect of domestic type appliances unless they are an RGI. It is also illegal for anyone to portray themselves as an RGI unless they are registered with RGII.

Safety Alert - LPG LP Single Stage Regulator

The LPG LP Single Stage Regulator manufactured by OARA/Italy of the OARA Gas Master Range (cylinder type propane) has been found to be prone to failure caused by internal corrosion, resulting in an over pressure condition and should therefore be replaced and removed from service.

On 17th June 2014, the CER published a Consultation Paper on the Regulation of the Gas Installer Industry with respect to Safety from 2016.

Gas Safety Prosecution in Navan

The CER yesterday published on 28 May 2014 a Press Release regarding the prosecution of an individual who carried out Gas Works while not being registered as a Registered Gas Installer and for portraying himself as a Registered Gas Installer.
